Liquid Plummer

The Shephard and The Herd

The shepherd leads the herd to graze on the grass.
Corralled by the dogs the first to the last
The ground is polluted with piss and their waste.
The land is now foul destroyed with no haste.

They move to the next with hunger and child.
Then off to the slaughter their bodies are piled.
The bodies pile up with no thought or compassion
The flesh does provide the empire in fashion

Off to the market the flesh is for sale.
It’s laid out on ice so as not to go stale.
The brutes browse the bounty with money to spend
They take all they can, then more with no end

The meat is brought home it needs to be cooked
The fat adds flavor to the feast for the crooks
Straight to the fire for soon it will rot.
It’s seared and it’s burned over coals red and hot

The meat is now cooked no life left to see
It glistens and shines the grease makes them glee
They cut and they slice the flesh trained with leashes
Then into their mouths they tear it to pieces.

They swallow the flesh and swill down their spirits
They eat and they eat with no reason to fear it.
No fear of reprisal from laws with no justice.
Their freedom ordained by Caesar Augustus

The sheep are still dull from chasing the herd.
No thoughts for themselves their blindness absurd
Led to the water their thirst makes them drink.
They’d see it’s polluted if they would just think

So on it still goes the birth and the slaughter
We live and we die all sons and all daughters.
Is this what we are? Is it what we’re here for?
The rulers and slaves. The rich and the poor.
